Your printer will no longer receive any future updates. However, it depends on the firmware version that was previously install into your printer if your old compatible cartridges or refills will work. BMC TONER SOLUTION only sells the latest version of chips. Every cartridge has a chip that will read ink levels and correct color. If one color is out the unit will stop printing. You can tap on the ink level screen to display which colors need to be changed. Also, do not try to stop the cradle. Please wait for it to stop and gently press the cartridges to be removed otherwise the slots can be damaged inside the cradle. All cartridges must have the same version of chips when installing.

If you have error message one or more cartridge is missing or damage then your firmware has damage the cartridges chips.

I recommend a cleaning or test print every two to three weeks so that the ink is always fresh and flowing through the Epson printhead.  If these printer set the printhead will clog. It won't matter how many original cartridges are installed. If the printhead is clogged nothing will print. A deep cleaning or cleaning may help. However, it will deplete a cartridge quickly. You can purchase printhead solution. However, if you don't turn the printer off you will damage the boards. It a 50/50 chance of repairing this issue if the printer has been sitting for months and not use. Most printers will need to be disassembled to remove the printhead for proper cleaning or replacing the part. A circuit board is on the printhead so please use caution or it will be damaged. I recommend purchasing genuine OEM printhead when this issue occurs or purchase another printer. Also, some models have a maintenance box in the back corner of the printer which will needs to be replaced when its full. The printer should notify you when its time to replace.  Printer parts can be ordered directly from the brand name Website.
