Installing a Toner Cartridge

All units are different. The owners manual will explain which keys to press to reset the toner or drums.

Installing a Brother Color Toner Cartridges for Models MFC L8900CDW or MFC L3770CDW

Open the cover door and press arrow back key and  (X)  at the same time for 1 second then press arrow again now scroll to select (K-black-HC) HC is high yld toner (OK ACCEPTED) You must do this for every color that is installed.

Most of the Brother printer will have arrow back key (CLEAR)  or STOP/EXIT key for 1 seconds then press arrow button and now scroll and select HC for High yld (OK ACCEPTED). Please review owners manual as every unit is different.

TN760 (Do these steps fast)

Press Clear and Stop/EXIT  "together at the same time"  for 2 seconds, by immediately pressing clear again upon release scroll down to K.TNR-HC then press OK arrow down to reset and arrow up to Exit

 Installing a Toner Cartridge

Most of the time the problem with flaking is due to a worn Fuser or the weight of the paper. If the toner is flaking off the the paper then the paper is too heavy. You can try a lower weight or inspect the fuser once the printer has cooled down for about an hour.

FUSER IS WORN, DAMAGED, or TORN. You can check your maintenance levels. If you are close to 100K the fuser is worn. If you have wrinkling in the paper a new fuser maybe needed. Some model you can open up to see the fuser. Please make sure the unit has been off for several hours because it is hot inside the printer and it will burn you.

Please remember to purchase material made for Laserjet printers. You can damage your machine. The correct paper and labels are important and make sure labels are installed correctly. 

Check Density Setting Adjust lightness to darkness

New Toner- All Toners should be shaken left to right and twist box up and down. The toner power should be evenly across the toner cylinder.  If the toner is lighter on one side than the other then the cartridge wasn't shaken left to right to even the toner powder.

If you have a drum swipe the Corona swipe the tap across back and forth multiple times to clean the roller. You can take a soft cloth to wipe off any build up. Please remember don't add water to toner powder when cleaning use a shop vac.

SMEARING AND GHOSTING

A new drum is needed. Humidity can cause toner powder to smudge, faint colors, as well as ghosting. You can gently shake the toner power left to right then cleaned the roller with soft cloth and reinstall. 

Multipurpose Paper

Long grain paper is the best fit for laser printers.

Color Calibration

If color are not as perfect then a calibration may be need.

Home/Serial# press and hold 0 a grid will appear/ Enter Code 71 or 81/press black or color five times and perform arrow up or down
