High humidity will cause color powder inside the toner to build up. A soft cloth is needed to continue rolling and wiping, rolling and wiping, at least five times over a trash can. This will help clear up any blurred images. A shop vac or vacuum cleaner will be need to remove toner from machine, carpet, or etc. If not, handle properly. Do not use water for clean-up. A solid line appearing on the paper is symbol you need a drum. A line will appear down the whole page. If your drum unit appears to be duplicating images or letters every 2 to 3 inches (ghosting) a drum needs to be replaced. If a dark half moon or dark edges every 2 to 3 inches down the edge of the paper then the drum needs to be replaced. The green tab will slide back and forth to clean the roller (corona wire). Please never put your fingers on the roller. A soft, dry cloth will help remove toner build up.
Toner Fading Light to Dark
Please check density on the printer for light and darkness. A new toner should be gently shaken before installing in the printer. Otherwise, toner will get everywhere. If the toner is printing darker on one side then the toner needs to be shaken over a trash can. Please shake properly before removing the plastic pull tabs. If the toner is shook evenly the toner is dark from left to right across the full page. The toner cartridge will start to lighten when almost depleted.
Please follow directions carefully when replacing a new drum. Brother drums need to be reset when installing. Every unit is different for the reset options. The arrow back feature is used a lot.
Replacing drums:
All units vary. Most Brother unit require front door to be open and press and hold GO for 4 seconds the LED models are lit release the GO button and close the cover. Some models you have to scroll to select yes or no.

If you see a build up of toner on the drum then gently remove with a dry soft cloth. You will see it in the yellow circled area. Please do not put your fingers on the roller.
The green or blue tab should be locked into place on the left side. It is located in the light blue circled area know as Corona wire. The red circled area shows the PCR roller is worn. If you are installing a new toner then gently slide the corona wire left to right at least 10 to 14 times. This will clean the roller and toner will be evenly. If the green tab isn't place on the left side you will not get a clear image.
The toner can be removed by pressing the lever on the left.
A new drum will make a little noise at first. If a loud noise continues the toner may not be installed properly or drum damages.
Please follow instructions to reset the drum replacement. Some models reset by leaving the door open to the printer and pressing arrow button while other models require (arrow) clear and then stop by pressing fast at the same time.

We ask our customers to compare side by side. If you purchase a new color toner cartridge then a calibration should be perform. This will ensure the color match correctly when printing. Don't store your printer in a high humidity. This will cause the toner to clump up inside the cylinder. You will not get an even image and sometimes smudge images. The roller will need to be cleaned with a soft cloth and roller will need to be rolled multiple times. A toner roller should be evenly coated with toner power. If you see vertical lines on the roller then it needs to be cleaned again. Also, make sure if it has a drum the Corona wire is tight on the left side. If not, several lines will appear down the paper.
A Fuser is usually orange and located in the back of most laser printer. It's extremely hot. Please turn off the machine for an hour or so to cool down before cleaning it. If you continue to have a paper jam or crippling of paper then it is usually caused by a worn or damage fuser. The fuser has gliders that catch pieces of paper that may have torn in the machine. A lot of times, when a laser printer has been used over the years toner powder will be stuck to the roller and can be cleaned off.
A Transfer Belt takes the image from the drum and applies it to the paper. You must be careful and make sure you don't touch the belt, scratch it, or tear it. Blurring of images is usually cause when the transfer belt is worn. If you see vertical lines of toner powder then it can be removed with a soft cloth.
If drum is worn out if will cause ghosting to appear on the paper because it can't discharge previously printed images.
Always make sure that the correct paper is installed. Printer paper comes in glossy, long grain, and short grain paper. It can make all the different in a beautifully printed image.
